30+ Years Behind the Camera. Still Looking.

Brian Farber Photography — Field Journal: Still
looking.

For more than 30 years I've made a living looking through a camera. This journal is for the photographs I make when there's no deadline — just something that made me stop and look.

For more than 30 years, I've made a living looking through a camera.

As a news photojournalist, I've learned to anticipate the moment, find the story and be ready when something happens. But some of my favorite photographs happen when there's no deadline, no assignment and no editor waiting for the next frame.

That's when I photograph simply because something makes me stop and look.

A mountain disappearing into the clouds. A quiet street in Japan. The vastness of Alaska. An unexpected moment. A place that feels impossible to forget.

This collection brings together some of those photographs — images from my travels, the outdoors and the places and moments that have caught my eye along the way.

Every photograph has a story. Some are dramatic. Some are quiet. Some simply remind me that I was lucky enough to be there.

I hope you find a photograph here that makes you stop and look, too.

Only a fraction of my archive makes it into the journal. If there's a place, a moment, or a subject you have in mind, ask — there's a good chance I've already made it.
